Arte Sella, Borgo Valsugana

European Garden Award 2013

Since 1986 Arte Sella, in the Sella valley of the Italian Province of Trento, has become established as an international open-air exhibition site for contemporary art.

On the meadows and in the forests of this Alpine valley, the visitors can experience how art is created, developed and how in the course of time it also fades again. The artists are called upon to treat the environment sparingly and to let themselves be inspired by nature and the special place. Most of the works of art are three-dimensional and use stones, leaves, branches or tree trunks.

Currently 56 objects are waiting to be discovered during an about four-hour hike. Temporary indoor exhibitions and concerts that are likewise organised by the Associazione Arte Sella and not lastly the cultivated landscape round out the special event.
