The ditches of old fortifications and the areas along historic city walls may have lost their defensive functions, but oftentimes they have retained their uninviting character as they are hard to access and disorderly or vehicles are parked there.
The municipal and state authorities in Malta have accomplished with the new Mdina Ditch Park to recreate value and redesign the fortification ditch of Mdina in an exemplary way.
Clear structures, high-quality materials and the use of plants authentic for the site, in particular orange trees, invite to a stroll in which the old fortification structures with their materials and architecture can be discovered, where history can be felt and which is crowned in the end by a grandiose view into the surroundings of the old capital of Malta.
