In the museum at Schloss Herrenhausen, visitors learn about the Baroque principality of the Welf dynasty and the most important personages of the era, among them the polymath Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz (1646 – 1716) and Electress Sophia (1630 – 1714). Just as in a royal chamber of art and wonders, the guests can then see precious exhibits – testimony to Baroque court culture and everyday living. The third section presents the development of the palaces and gardens up to the present day.
