A tradition which began in 1997 makes Münster the focus of the international art world every ten years. That is when art in public spaces turns the city into a sculpture stronghold. The next occasion will be in 2017. More than 60 sculptures especially created for Münster by world-famous artists are integrated into the cityscape and can thus be readily seen by the general public. The exhibition series “Sculpture Projects” was initiated by the Westphalian Museum of Art and Cultural History. A particularly enjoyable activity is a bike trip along the Aasee (Aa lake) to discover sculpture and to encounter works by artists such as Claes Oldenburg, Henry Moore and Huang Yong Ping.
